Star of BBC One’s ‘The Bailiffs, James Waller, age 24, is Managing
Director of JBW Enforcement. James shares his experiences as a former
Imp and tells how The Team helped him prepare for the challenges that
lay ahead.
What did you learn as an Imp?
Learning to ride a motorcycle at the age of five and do clever things
such as riding with no hands on the handlebars and while standing up on
the seat!
Tell us your most memorable Imp experience.
Taking part in the finale of The Edinburgh Tattoo while our amazing
national anthem played. The experience will live with me forever. I
remember the lump in my throat and the feeling of pride that made my
chest want to burst.
What impact did being an Imp have on your life?
It made me who I am today. I learned discipline and respect and I
gained valuable knowledge and a great deal of independence. I would not
be where I am today if it was not for The Imps and, more importantly,
Team Director, Roy Pratt – There are very many people who have this
amazing man to thank for where they are today!
What advice would you give to current Imps?
When you reach fourteen and quite naturally, like most, think “Why am I
here? – I should be out with my friends.” Remember this: I left school
with no qualifications and I now run a company with a £3 million
turnover, partly as a result of my being an Imp. Your friends at home
will always be there and you are not missing out on a thing, but in
leaving the team early you could miss out on life itself. Don’t make
any rash decisions and please DO THE RIGHT THING! |
