The Imps Motorcycle Display stole the show at this years Edinburgh Tattoo. The five week stay at army barracks in Edinburgh along with 1000 other performers represented a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experience for the team members.

The Imps performed seven shows in six days of every week, punctuated by sightseeing. A mini Imp on a full sized police motorcycle chasing a policeman on a ‘Monkey’ bike proved to be a real crowd pleaser. The team crew made this trip possible. It takes a high degree of commitment from these unseen heroes to bring the show together.

The Tattoo is seen by more than 270,000 people live at the event and was seen by more than 100 million aired on television on Saturday August 27th.

Roy Pratt MBE, the Team Leader, said “The team were sensational. We were the focus of 70% of all Tattoo press coverage, including Telegraph and Times coverage which was very encouraging. We have already received invitations to appear in the Caribbean and The Ukraine in 2006 and the diary is filling ahead of the normal trend.”

The Imps were guests at The Signal Officer in Chief (Army)’s Display Teams opening show 2005 on Saturday 23rd of April. By kind permission of Lieutenant Colonel R.V.J. Brannigan, Royal Signals – Officer Commanding, The Imps, smartly dressed in tour blazers, watched a spectacular display by The Royal Signals Motorcycle Display Team – The White Helmets.

There has been a long productive relationship between the two teams for nearly thirty years, but this year was the first such trip. A great deal of mutual respect exists and The Imps left inspired and ready for the season ahead which begins with their own VIP show this coming Sunday, May 1. The following day The Imps will be appearing at their first public display of the season at Ilkley Carnival in Yorkshire, ahead of a very busy international season, which takes in The Edinburgh Military Tattoo and tours to both Norway and The Netherlands.

After the display, which also involved music and marching by the Band of The Royal Corps of Signals at Blandford Camp in Dorset, The Imps were introduced to Regimental Colonel, J.K. Ewbank and The Signal Officer in Chief (Army) Brigadier J.E. Thomas MBE ADC. The Imps were then presented to Major Stuart Scott for inspection.

The trip was organised by Imps Team Director, Roy Pratt MBE who said afterwards; “The White Helmets have shown us an excellent display. We feel privileged to be their friends and inspired by them as we step into the 2005 season.”
